Children's Privacy Notice

Your Privacy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

This notice is for people aged 11 and 12 who use the 4Skills Work Experience Programme.

Version: 1.1  |  Published: April 2026  |  Next review: April 2027 or when anything changes

1. Who are we?

We are GetMyFirstJob Ltd, also known as Talent People. We run the 4Skills Work Experience Programme on behalf of Channel 4, through a platform called C4XP.

We are responsible for keeping your information safe. You can contact us any time:

  • Email: data@getmyfirstjob.co.uk
  • Address: 61 Westway, Caterham, England, CR3 5TQ
  • Our Data Protection Officer is: Dan Czaicki

2. What is this notice for?

When you join the 4Skills programme, we need to collect some information about you to make it work. This notice explains:

  • What information we collect
  • Why we collect it
  • Who can see it
  • How long we keep it
  • What you can do if you want us to change or delete it

We collect this information because we need it to run the programme for you. This is allowed under a UK law called UK GDPR.

3. What personal information do we collect about you?

Only the minimum we need to run the programme.

What we collect Why we need it
Your name So we know who you are and can put your name on your certificate.
Your email address So we can set up your account and send you important messages about the programme.
Your date of birth So we know you are old enough to join and apply the right protections for your age. We never show this to anyone else on the platform.
Your school name and school reference number So your school's Careers Adviser can see how you're getting on. This is required if you are under 13.
Your progress through the programme So we know what you've completed and can give you a certificate when you finish.
The work you submit in each step (your answers, any files you upload) So the programme can give you feedback and track what you've done. Your Careers Adviser can also see this — see Section 7.

What we do NOT collect from you (because you are under 13):

  • Your gender
  • Your ethnicity or religion
  • Information about any disabilities
  • Your phone number or home address
  • Your social media profiles

4. What technical information does the platform collect automatically?

This happens automatically in the background — you don't need to do anything.

When you use the platform, some information is collected automatically by the technology that makes it work:

  • Your IP address — this is a number that identifies your internet connection. We use it to find out roughly which city you are in (not your home address) and to keep the platform secure.
  • Your device and browser information — such as what type of computer or tablet you are using and what browser you are using. This helps us make sure the platform works on your device.
  • A small file called a cookie — this is saved on your device and helps the site remember you are logged in. The main one is called a "session cookie" and it disappears when you close your browser. Another cookie (called "SessionID") lasts up to 30 days and helps track how people use the site in general.

If your parent or carer has agreed to cookies on your behalf when using this site, some extra tools (Google Analytics and a system called Mautic) may also collect information about which pages you visit, to help us improve the programme. These tools only run if cookie consent has been given.

None of this technical information is sold or shared with advertisers.

5. Why do we need this information?

We need your information to:

  • Set up your account so you can log in
  • Let you access your work experience modules
  • Track what you've completed so you can get your certificate
  • Give you AI feedback on the steps you complete
  • Connect you with your school's Careers Adviser
  • Keep the platform safe and working properly

We don't use your information for advertising, profiling, or marketing.

6. How do you sign in?

You sign in to the platform using your email address and password. You set these up when you register.

7. Who can see your information?

Most of your information is private. Here is exactly who can see what:

Who What they can see What they CANNOT see Why
Talent People staff Everything needed to run the programme Nothing beyond what is needed They manage the platform and need to make sure it works properly.
Your school's Careers Adviser Your name, email, your progress through each module and step, the work you've submitted (your written answers, any files you've uploaded, and the AI feedback you received on each step), and any ratings or comments you've left voluntarily Your date of birth, and any personal details not related to the programme They are there to support you through the programme and need to see your work to do that.
Other students Nothing — your profile is private Everything Your information is never shared with other students.
Channel 4 and employer partners Only anonymous numbers — for example, "200 students completed this module." They never see your name or any details about you. Anything that could identify you We never give partners your personal details.

8. How does AI work on this platform?

Some steps in the programme use AI (artificial intelligence) to read your answers and give you feedback. Here is what that means for you:

  • When you complete an AI step, your answer is sent to a secure AI system operated by Microsoft in the UK. It reads your answer and writes a feedback response for you.
  • Your first name might be used to make the feedback feel personal — for example, "Well done, [your name]!"
  • The feedback is saved on your account so you can read it again, and your Careers Adviser can also see it (see Section 7 above).
  • The AI does not make any decisions about you. It only writes feedback. A real person at Talent People can always review what the AI has done.
  • The AI does not learn from your answers or keep them for any other purpose.

There are no AI chat assistants available to users under 13. That feature is only available to users aged 13 and over.

The AI feedback you receive is stored for up to 2 years, the same as the rest of your account information.

9. Will we email you?

Yes, but only for important reasons. Because you are under 13, the only emails we will ever send you are:

  • A confirmation email when you create your account
  • An email if you need to reset your password
  • A security alert if something unusual happens with your account
  • An important notice if something changes about the programme

We will NOT send you:

  • Marketing emails or newsletters
  • Emails about career opportunities or promotions
  • Reminder emails to come back to the platform

You will never be added to any mailing list.

10. How long do we keep your information?

We keep your information for 2 years after the last time you used the platform. After that, your information is deleted. You (or a parent or carer) can ask us to delete it sooner — see Section 11.

11. Your rights — what you (and your parents) can ask us to do

You have rights over your information. Your parents or guardians can also use these rights on your behalf.

Your right What this means
See your information You can ask us to show you everything we have about you.
Correct your information If something is wrong, you can ask us to fix it.
Delete your information You can ask us to delete everything. We'll do this unless there's a legal reason we have to keep it.

Object to us using your information You can tell us you don't want us to use your information for a particular reason. We will consider your objection and stop unless we have a very good reason to continue.

To use any of these rights, email us at data@getmyfirstjob.co.uk or ask a parent, carer, or trusted adult to do it for you.

12. How do we keep your information safe?

We take security seriously. Here is what we do to protect your information:

  • Your information is stored on secure Microsoft servers in the UK, certified to ISO 27001:2022
  • Only people who need to can access your information
  • Everything is encrypted — that means scrambled so that nobody can read it if they shouldn't
  • We test our security regularly

13. What happens when you turn 13?

When you log in on or after your 13th birthday, the platform will notice automatically and ask you to go through a short update.

We will show you this notice and our main Privacy Policy, and ask you to confirm you have read them.

Once you confirm, your account moves to the standard 13+ settings. This means:

  • You can choose to share optional information like your gender or ethnicity if you want to
  • You can choose to receive marketing emails about career opportunities if you want to
  • The AI chat assistant becomes available to you
